Hi List,
If I introduce a new member switch to a stack, switch it on, can I then copy an IOS image from an existing members flash to the new stack member? Any information appreciated.

You should read this:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-3750-series-switches/71925-cat3750-create-switch-stks.html#anc13.
Once the switch is fully compatible with the stack and joined, you should
be able to copy the image over, but I feel this likely does not meet your
need. The provided link should be helpful.

Thanks for the link Nathan. I was meaning that the new member added had a different IOS version. This would cause the new member to go into provisioning mode, I think.
Would I then be able to copy the IOS from the flash of a member switch to the flash of the newly added member?

If your stack image is newer, auto-upgrade should take care of it for you.

If it fails, you can run a show switch, find your master and the mismatched switch numbers, then issue
"archive copy-sw /force-reload /overwrite /dest newswitchnumber masterswitchnumber"

Though, since you're close enough to cable it into the stack, you could also just address (/30, for example) an interface of each switch, cross-connect them on those interfaces and TFTP the image across.
Sometimes the basics get the job done too ;)

I'd much rather rely on good ol' TFTP then Cisco's IOS stacking code,
especially in a time-crunch situation.
