Any ideas what it means?

Thanks,
Gunther

Someone send out an abnormally long AS-PATH over the weekend and anyone
who didn't have filters for maximum AS-PATH length got the error.
Someone at fido.net having some bgp config issues?
Looks like someone probing for a buffer overflow on a world-wide basis.

Message
%BGP-6-BIGCHUNK : Big chunk pool request ([dec]) for [chars]. Replenishing
with malloc

Explanation A large chunk pool has been requested. If the static chunk
pools size cannot service the request, it will be serviced with a memory
allocation (malloc).

Recommended Action This is an informational message only. If concerned,
enter the chunk and bgp summary commands, copy the error message exactly as
it appears on the console or in the system log, contact your Cisco technical
support representative, and provide the representative with the information
you have gathered.

Informational message that says that BGP needed a large block of memory
from the static attribute memory pool for AS path attributes. In this
case, the size of the static pool was insufficient to service the request,
so a memory allocation was done to fulfill it.

As someone else pointed out, some abnormally long AS paths popped up over
the weekend which could have triggered this message.

Hello,
We once had a similar issue:

%BGP-3-INSUFCHUNKS: Insufficient chunk pools for aspath, requested size 272

We couldn't recreate it at lab, so that we assumed it was CSCdr07279
I don't think you should worry much about that log: most probably
somebody has gone to far doing ASs preempts
Regards.
