What address scope are you using?

Subject: [c-nsp] BGP IPV6 strange message

I'm trying to setup an IPv6 neighbor on a 7206VXR with NPE-G1 and
c7200-spservicesk9-mz.122-33.SRD4.bin. All the needed IPv6 config is
there (e.g. ipv6 cef) but BGP keeps telling me:

7200(config)#router bgp $ASN1
7200(config-router)#neigh X::X remote-as $ASN2
% Link local peer outside address-family scope
7200(config-router)#address-family ipv6 unicast
% BGP: Error initializing topology

I can ping to the neighbor X::X from X::(X+1). The routers are
connected using gigabit ports.

I have google the errors but there is nothing. Anybody else had this
problem before?

Looks like that there is no BGP Extension for IPv6 in "SRD/spservices"
so maybe you need "advipservices" oder "adventerprise".

If you have a CCO account, take a look at feature navigator: www.cisco.com/go/fn

A comparison of SP Services with Advanced IP Services shows numerous feature differences that you may not have expected if you came from an older train with Service Provider (-p-mz) feature set. SP Services != Service Provider

Here are a few features unique to Advanced IP Services:
IPv6 Routing - EIGRP Support
IPv6 Routing: IS-IS Multitopology Support for IPv6
IPv6 Routing: IS-IS Support for IPv6
IPv6 Routing: Multiprotocol BGP Extensions for IPv6
IPv6 Routing: Multiprotocol BGP Link-local Address Peering
IPv6 Routing: OSPF for IPv6 (OSPFv3)
IPv6 Routing: RIP for IPv6 (RIPng)
IPv6 Routing: Route Redistribution
IPv6 Routing: Static Routing
IPv6 Security: Secure Shell SSH support over IPv6

Hope that helps!
Cory

Leah, Cory and Gerald, thanks for your help, it was an IOS issue, no
problems with c7200-advipservicesk9-mz.122-33.SRD4.bin
